Authored by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings is a very famous work of fantasy fiction and is an extremely popular epic novel. The story continues as a sequel to another fantasy novel written by Tolkien, “The Hobbit”. The novel is an extensive work which has compiled and written in a very creative and imaginative way. It was written in between the years 1937 and 1949 and most part was completed by Tolkien during the Second World War.

Authored by Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables is a novel which was published in the year 1908. The novel is a work of fiction which is targeted at audience of all ages. The inspiration behind this book lies in a small piece of paper which Montgomery had written at a very young age. The paper described about a couple who were sent an orphan girl in place of a boy by mistake and still the couple decided to keep that girl with them.

A Tale of Two Cities is a novel written in year 1859 by Charles Dickens. The novel is set around the two cities of London and Paris before the French revolution and during it. More than 200 million copies of this masterpiece of work have been sold which makes it one of the most popular fiction novels.

The plight of peasants in France, who became victims of the French aristocracy in the revolution years, the brutality faced by aristocrats from the revolutionaries and many critical social similarities with life in London at that time has been depicted in the novel.
