The Reivers – William Faulkner

Overview:
First published in the year 1962, “The Reivers” is the last novel written by Nobel Prize winning American author William Faulkner. It won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in the year 1963, making Faulkner one of only three people to have won this famed award on more than one instance. Unlike other books written by Faulkner, “The Reivers” is a straightforwardly narrated picaresque novel and is extremely light-hearted in nature.

Sula – Toni Morrison

Published in the year 1973, “Sula” is a novel written by Nobel Prize winning American author, Toni Morrison. It speaks about a black community in Ohio known as “The Bottom” which is situated high up in the hills, above the community of white people called “Medallion”. It was situated in the hills because, many years ago, a white man had given this piece of land to his slave by tricking him into believing that it was nearer to heaven.
